OUR COMPERE THIS YEAR IS PAUL HENDERSON FROM LIVERPOOL.

[He’s the very handsome one!] We just cannot escape from Scouse comperes! Paul says’ ‘Hello, my name is Paul Henderson…‘The Gang in Corfu’ Ever since I can remember I have always been helping

people  and  raising  money  for  charity.  As  a  kid  as young as five, I use to knock and ask the ‘old people’ in  the  street  if  they  wanted  anything  from  the  shops like  vegetables,  bread,  milk  or  cigarettes  (Normally

Capstan Full Strength Navy Cut or woodbine!). When I ran  an  errand  I  never  took  any  money  off  the  old people  because  I  got  more  pleasure  with  just  helping others.  I  think  it  must  of  started  when  I  was  in  the Cub  Scouts  and  taking

The  Scout  Promise -On  my honour,  I  promise  that  I  will  do  my  best,  To  do  my  duty  to God and to the Queen, To help other people And to keep the Scout Law… Moving on to more modern times! Myself  and  Janice  (Wife)  with  the  love  of  country music and other music got together with some friends (plus  beer!)  and  we  started  a  yearly  event  called – Northwest  Festival  and  the  main  aim  was  to  support MacMillan  Cancer for  many  years.  Unfortunately,  a lot  of  the  money  that  was  raised  over  many  years, was money  we  did  not  see  locally  at  our  own  Hospices around  the  Northwest.  Many  of  our  larger  cancer charities  are  now  national  organisations  we  no  longer have  any  say into  how  our  donations  are  used. We  all decided   to   call   it   a   day   running   the   Northwest Festival… We  had  an  itch  to  do  something  a  little  bit  different, so  we  started  with  a  new  charity  called  ‘Northwest Charity  Solutions’  with  a  small  group –The  main objective was to give smaller amounts of money to help more  people  and  nominations  came  from  the  local people  who  suggested  people  who  need  help.  So for example  things  we  purchased – Specialised  Mattress, Walking Sticks, Materials to decorate rooms, Tyres for mini  bus  and  also  lots  of  people  young  &  old  who don’t get any support what so ever. So giving someone something valued at £100 and also giving  someone  something  valued  at  £10,000  was  no difference, because that £100 felt like £10,000…Over the years with both charities we have raised  over £180,000. Any people who have yet to receive their Early-Bird tickets, never fear; They will be with you during  the  month.  Everyone one  here  in Agiotfest-land  wishes  you  the  very  best  of nights.
